Death Notice:
Wessling, Marilyn L. (nee Burgdorf) October 27, 1934 to July 28, 2010. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bob, her daughter Pat (Tim Dulle) and her son Tom (Michelle Scott) and the grandchildren that she loved dearly; Christopher, Sean, Phillip, Scott, Timothy, Nicole and Elizabeth. She was preceded in death by son James Wessling and her parents Clara and Ed Burgdorf. Marilyn’s calendar was always full! Her friendships meant the world to her and kept her going. She loved her social groups; The Fab 5, The Fab 4, The Mercy Girls, The Red Hatters and her Square Dance Groups. She loved to travel! She and Bob have been almost everywhere by car, train, boat and plane. Her Fab(ulous) 5 and Fab(ulous) 4 friends took yearly vacations to Florida and The Lake. She loved to play cards, all board games and enjoyed the theatre and old movies. She loved to sing and was a founding member of the North American Martyrs Guitar Choir in which she sang for over 25 years till her death. She lived a life of service to her church, North American Martyrs, for 50 years and then Sacred Heart in Florissant. She served on the boards of many different organizations. She served as a caregiver to her mother after her stroke in 1972 till her death in 1982 then to her son Jim after his accident in 1993 till his death this past March and to her husband Bob. She was an avid supporter of her children and grandchildren's activities, never missing a baseball or basketball game or dance recital from grade school through high school and beyond! She acted as a counselor to her children and grandchildren often providing “advice and suggestions” on various topics. One of her grandchildren remarked that she would not be sad because “grandma had a good husband, good children and good grandchildren who all loved and cared for her. She traveled and had family and friends that loved her. She’d had a good life!” Thanks to BJC hospice for making her final days comfortable and for providing support to her family.
